In an era when social media and the web are ever more self-centered, self-serving, and pointless, it is a joy to find something that educates, enriches, and enlivens. That is why I am so delighted to share my friend and colleague, Eric Duran-Valle's new broadcast of The Radio Adventures of Ranger Roscoe!
Ranger Roscoe
"The Radio Adventures of Ranger Roscoe! is a podcast that cowpokes of all ages can enjoy and learn from! Country Western singer Daisy Les Strafe (AKA the Scoundrel of the Sage) introduces listeners to the classic stories of singing cowboy Ranger Roscoe, a bygone icon of America's Old West heroes. In a recent research study conducted by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and PBS KIDS of 110 families, 92% of survey responses indicated that parents listened to PBS KIDS podcasts with their children; 83% of responses indicated parents and kids had a conversation about the podcast after listening; and 55% indicated that the podcast sparked an activity with their child. This medium presents a powerful opportunity for parents and kids to spend time with each other, be it on the way to school or at home. In “All’s Well That Ends Well,” Ranger Roscoe pays a visit to his friend Don Guillermo in Red Rock Canyon. But when the Don is nowhere to be seen, Roscoe has to pull off a daring rescue. The episode teaches and prompts discussion about: -Focus and self control-Taking on challenges-Managing big emotions like stress and fear."
Starring:
Gary Clendenning as Ranger Roscoe
Roberto Covarrubias as Don Guillermo
Nathan Tannenbaum as the Narrator
The Scoundrel of the Sage as Himself
So saddle up and listen up, buckaroos!
